Metal Gear Survive is described as a new "addition to the Metal Gear Solid 5 universe", and is set in an alternate timeline following the conclusion of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes - presumably one in which The Phantom Pain doesn't play out.Īccording to Konami's press release, Metal Gear Survive follows the adventures of soldiers previously employed at Metal Gear Solid 5's Mother Base, who must now work together in order to survive "massive threats".
